The Growing Gardeners Team Visits Allard

First and second grade students at Allard Elementary had an assembly with The Growing Gardeners Team consisting of Penn State Master Gardeners from across the Commonwealth.  They have been busy creating this NEW school presentation focusing on the Spotted Lanternfly.

The interactive, educational program introduced the SLF, why it is a pest, and how to find and eradicate it.  Students also learned about LUCKY, the first SLF sniffing dog working with the PA Department of Agriculture, and how she sniffs out the SLF egg masses so her human buddy Shane Philipps (PA Department of Agriculture) can scrape and squish the masses before they hatch. Students were asked to be on Lucky’s Squad and pledge to See - Scrape - Squish (and report) the SLF.

A big thanks to the Growing Gardeners Team for visiting Allard Elementary School!
