Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

This year, we once again have a larger number of car riders and walkers to our school than in the past.  As we enter our first week of school, we want to let everyone know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We have configured our arrival/dismissal procedures to keep all cars off of Shafer Road while keeping everyone safe in the parking lot.  We appreciate your support and attentiveness with following these procedures and recommended safety guidelines for an orderly arrival and dismissal. Please review the procedures for arrival and dismissal before Wednesday.

The school day for students is from 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Arrival

Cars will enter the front parking lot and loop around the side of the building to the back parking lot and then back up the hill to the drop-off area.  There will be staff and cones be set up to help guide you through the lot.  Walkers may enter the building at the back door (maintenance door) as we did last year.

In the morning, we will use the lane closest to the building for student drop-off, just like we have been doing. To expedite traffic and to keep the car line to moving safely and efficiently, please adhere to the following measures:

  • Please refrain from parking and walking your child to the door.
  • Please also refrain from using a cell phone during drop-off.
  • For the safety of our students, please have your child exit from the passenger side onto the walkway.
  • Please have your student ready to exit the car when they arrive to the building; we are also asking that you do not exit your car while in the bus line.  If your child needs assistance, we have staff who can help.  Please just let us know that you need assistance and we will be happy to help.
  • Please post your arrival/dismissal placard in a passenger side window if you are going to be picking up your child from school.  Placards will be sent home this week and next week.

**Please do not leave your child unattended in the front of the school building before the doors open for entry.**

Please drive safely in all parking areas and roads and follow the directions of staff members.
Afternoon dismissal begins promptly at 3:00 p.m. Parents may begin arriving at 2:45 p.m.

Dismissal

Cars will enter the front parking lot and loop around the side of the building to the back parking lot and then back up the hill to the drop-off area.  This is what we implemented last year for those of you who picked up your children.  There will be staff and cones set up to help guide you. Don’t forget to have your placard displayed on a passenger side window.  Walkers may be picked up at the maintenance door in the afternoon. standing up fractions is very to

In the afternoon, we will use the lane closest to the building for cars to line up and wait for their children.  This is the same thing that we are doing in the morning.  We are asking that students enter their vehicles on the passenger side.

Buses will also be using the lane closest to the building.  Cars are NOT permitted to park in the bus loop. If you are parked in the bus loop, you will be asked to move your car to a parking space.  We are hoping to have all parent cars exited from the lot before the busses arrive.

Please always bring your valid driver’s license with you.  Anyone picking up your child from school must also bring a valid driver’s license and be listed IN SKYWARD.

Please bear with us as we navigate the dismissal procedures.  The first two weeks can be chaotic as everyone learns how to navigate.  Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to seeing all of our students again on Wednesday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kazmierczak
